Chamounix Mansion resides in a lush wooded setting in Philadelphia’s beautiful Fairmount Park. The mansion features a welcoming front porch and two large communal rooms, restored accurately to 1850, and furnished with period antiques and a marble fireplace. The mansion is accompanied by a restored carriage house, providing additional rooms for guests.
Accomodations
Sleeping accommodations are comfortable, air-conditioned dormitory-style rooms. Smaller rooms are available for families and couples, upon request. The hostel provides linens, a blanket and pillow for each bed.

There are 80 beds available between the Mansion and Carriage House, in dormitory-style rooms, ideal for groups of 10 or more. For over 50 years, Chamounix has been the go-to Philadelphia hostel destination for school groups, tour groups, religious and civic organizations from all walks of life, and all around the world. Groups are also given the option of daytime access to facilities. Our communal spaces are perfect for hosting retreats and group meetings. Please note, group sleeping quarters are separated into male and female designated rooms. Group male-female guest counts are required upon reservation, to ensure the proper facilities are prepared for your stay.
Communal & Group Spaces
The Mansion and Carriage house each feature unique communal spaces for universal use during normal operating hours, and group use, upon request, during daytime off-hours.
Take a break and relax with friends in the Recreation Room or watch a movie in the TV Lounge.
Use our our fully-equipped kitchen and dining room to prepare and host meals. Our BBQ and Picnic area is perfect for reunions, grilling and summer days in the park. On-site catering is available for group events.
